Bishamon-do Temple
The approach path, famed for its arch of maple trees, is a popular autumn foliage spot. In late fall, visitors are greeted by a carpet of crimson leaves covering the ground. Autumn colors also beautifully adorn the Benzai-do Hall and Bansui-en Garden, while the temple interiors offer many highlights, including dynamic sliding-door paintings—often called “moving fusuma art”—and Maruyama Okyo’s carp paintings on cedar panel doors.
