The head temple of the Jodo Shinshu Otani-ha sect, this historic Kyoto temple enshrines a portrait of Shinran Shonin. Passing through the Goei-do Gate—one of the largest wooden temple gates in the world and said to be the tallest in Japan—visitors are greeted by the awe-inspiring sight of the Goei-do Hall and the Amida Hall standing side by side.
